To mark the seminar's 40th anniversary, we are organizing a conference highlighting progress in the seminar's main areas of research:

• Groups, rings and ordered fields, valued groups and fields, real algebra;
• Model theory and algorithmic aspects;
• Positive and hyperbolic polynomials, optimization;
• Real algebraic and analytic geometries, o-minimality;
• Quadratic forms, abstract order spaces, real semi-groups;
• C-minimal, p-minimal and h-minimal structures;
• Generalized power series, trans-series, exponential fields.
  

The symposium will be the occasion for a tribute to Alexander Prestel.

The symposium will be held at the Arago laboratory of the Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls-sur-mer.

Scientific activities will take place from Monday 4/08 - 9am to Friday 8/08 - 12pm. There will be no talks on the afternoon of Friday 8/08.
